The finalists for the 2009 James Beard foundation awards were announced earlier this week (on twitter no less!). In addition to broadcast media, journalism, chef and a variety of other topics, the awards include nominations for cooking related books in 10 different categories.
To celebrate all of the James Beard award finalists, and in particular the book nominations, Project Foodie has a whole slew of events planned starting from now through the May 4th awards gala. Join us in the celebrations by checking out the nominated books, voting on the books and reading our guest blogging by 13 14 of the nominated authors. Here are the details: The Project Foodie Guide to the 2009 James Beard Book Awards Nominees (see below). Our James Beard book awards guide provides you information about each of the book finalists to help you figure out which of the books you will enjoy. The cookbook nominee guide includes the list of nominees along with links to reviews of the books from a variety of sources including top magazines, newspapers and bloggers. AND, since recipes are one of the best ways to check out cookbooks, we've also provided links to recipes for you to try! And all of the recipes are part of the Project Foodie Recipe Box so you can save them and come back to them to cook whenever you want. Vote for your favorite James Beard finalist: Starting on April 3rd we will open the polls for the Project Foodie 'straw poll' of the James Beard Book Awards finalists. On May 1st the poll will close and on May 2nd we'll announce the results along with the Team Project Foodie round-up of the nominations. On May 5th we'll compare how our poll fared to the actual James Beard winners... Exclusive guest blogging by 13 14 of the James Beard nominated cookbook authors: The culmination of the Project Foodie James Beard activities is a series of exclusive guest blogs by nominated cookbook authors. Participating authors include Flo Braker, Jayne Cohen, Joyce Goldstein, Betty Fussell, Steven Kolpan, Jennifer McLagan, Anne Mendelson, Cindy Mushet, Beatrice Ojakangas, Deborah Schneider, Shirley O. Corriher, Arthur Schwartz, Andrew Schloss & David Joachim; and Judy Walker! The guest blogs will start on April 17th. Now, sit back and check out the Project Foodie guide to the James Beard nominated books - and remember voting opens on April 3rd! Did we miss a review? If you have links to more reviews on these books let us know and we'll add them to the list.
