Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Are you ready?  Project Foodie can help – we’ve gone through this month’s magazines and tagged the Thanksgiving recipes ‘thanksgiving’.  It’s quite a selection of recipes – be sure to check it out, especially the desserts! For more ways to use Track & Tag look here.  And don’t forget to let us know how your meals turn out – comment and rate the recipes you make so everyone else can enjoy the great recipes you find!

We’ve added some great new contributors this month:

Hi Foodie!

As the lazy days of summer quickly pass we’ve been busy here at Project Foodie putting together some great new things for you.

First up is “On Our Plate” seasonal picks of scrumptious dishes for you to try out.  Each pick has notes including what's great about the dish, variations that can be tried, a wine to pair with the dish, and ideas on what to serve with the dish. In addition, we’re including a “Healthy Rating” for each “On Our Plate” choice to help you make smart choices on what you eat. I hope you'll find this an interesting and useful addition to the Project Foodie line-up. Note - as detailed below we’ve updated our terms of use to clarify that these Healthy Ratings are not medical advice.

Next up Project Foodie will be hosting Leftover Tuesday’s during August.  This month the theme will be “Pantry Raid” – we invite all of you to go into your pantry - be it cold, dry or things grown in the live garden pantry and create a dish using those items.  Send me the recipe and a picture ( This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it ) and we’ll post it along with all the other entries.  We'll also randomly pick an entrant to receive a free cookbook.  Check out the Project Foodie blog later this week for details!

Finally, as I told you about last month, Project Foodie Recipe Track & Tag lets you easily keep track of recipes from your favorite cooking magazines.  We’re working on constantly improving and expanding Track & Tag to make it even better.  If you haven’t already, I encourage you to give it a try and once you have, let me know ( This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it ) what you think so it can be improved and made even better.

Foodie Pam

July 2007 Print E-mail

Greetings Fellow Foodie - and welcome if you are one of our many new users!

This month I have some really big news to share with you about Project Foodie. First, I'd like to introduce you to Project Foodie Recipe Track & Tag which lets you easily keep track of recipes from your favorite cooking magazines. The recipes are easy to find. You can view them by individual magazine issues, by specific categories or by searching for an individual title. But best of all you don't need to re-enter the recipes and recipes from multiple magazine publishers are available. As of today you can keep track of recipes from Cooking Light, Bon Appétite, and Gourmet magazines. We'll have Food & Wine recipes available soon and many others in the near future. For more details click here.

The other major addition to Project Foodie this month is our new series ChefLife. Based on the onslaught of TV cooking shows it sure sounds fun and glamorous to be a Chef but what is it really like? We'll be chatting with Chefs to get a glimpse into their lives through their own stories. How did they decide to become a Chef? What was culinary school and/or an apprenticeship like? Do they eat their own food? What led them to pursue their particular cuisine? What are the challenges they face? Join us as we explore these and many other aspects in the life of a Chef. Last month we chatted with Chef John Toulze from the girl & the fig (Sonoma, CA), and Chef Jeffrey Bouben from Vidalia (Washington, DC). Coming this month are chats with Alan Kantor from MacCallum House (Mendocino, CA) and Aaron Wright from Canlis (Seattle, WA). If you have a favorite Chef you'd like us to chat with let us know!

I hope you have a wonderful summer and continue to "Enjoy Food with Us!".
