Introducing Restaurant Spotlights Print E-mail

At Project Foodie eating and enjoying food is our passion. What better way to do that than to enjoy the unique creation of a professional chef?  Unfortunately, the reality is that we can not always get to our desired restaurant.  Project Foodie aims to help with this dilemma by presenting periodic spotlights on restaurants so you can create your own version of their magnificent dishes.   Similar to our Winery and Bed & Breakfast spotlights, the restaurant spotlights will be periodic postings with a recipe from a restaurant Chef.

Introducing Bed & Breakfast Spotlights Print E-mail

Do you enjoy breakfast?  If your typical breakfast consists of milk and cereal then you may not.  But what about a hot breakfast prepared just for you?  Here at Project Foodie we find hot breakfasts very enjoyable.  Unfortunately, breakfast is not a highly publicized meal and recipes for breakfast are often overlooked.  So, Project Foodie is working with Bed & Breakfasts to bring you recipes for some of those beautifully crafted morning meals.  Similar to our winery spotlight series, we will periodically post an article on our home page with recipes from the Chef of a Bed & Breakfast.  We are calling these features Bed & Breakfast Spotlights and we have several very interesting features planned.  We hope you find they are a perfect way to usher in your day.

Introducing Winery Spotlights Print E-mail

Food and wine go together like bread and butter - they are almost soul mates. So what could be better than to pair recipes with wines? Well, how about recipes crafted specifically for certain wines?  Here at Project Foodie we've decided to do just that - pair wines with recipes created specifically for them.  We're working with wineries in Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino counties to bring you recipes they have created to perfectly complement their wines.  Periodically we will post an article on our home page with recipes combined with descriptions of the corresponding wineries.  We are excited about these features and are calling them Winery Spotlights. We hope you enjoy the winery recipes as much as we do.

The Art Of Tasting Wine Print E-mail

by: Jennie Wills

When it comes to tasting wine there is certainly a lot of etiquette involved, however this is no reason to become intimidated or run away! Tasting wine is where all the fun begins for every wine has its' story to tell and the tasting ritual is the only way to ever hear it!

Smelling, sipping, tasting, and drinking! The etiquette in wine tasting exists because taste is entirely affected by smell. Wine has so much to offer our taste buds, so in order to get the whole experience a short ritual must first occur.

White Tea Print E-mail
by Richard Romando

White tea is increasing in popularity all over the world. It is made from immature growth buds and young leaves. The buds have a fine covering of white hair, giving the tea its name. These are steamed or fired to stop polyphenol oxidation and then dried. Chlorophyll formation is also stopped.

White tea is more expensive than other teas. The best tea is produced in Darjeeling in India; it is also grown in China and Japan. The different varieties have exotic names: white peony, golden moon, silver needle and white cloud. White tea can go up to US $25 for a 2-oz. tin.

The 10 Most Fattening Cocktails Print E-mail

By Donna Monday

You’re at your favorite cocktail lounge or nightclub unwinding with friends after work. You’ve already eaten dinner and now you look forward to enjoying good friends, laughter, and your favorite cocktail drink.

Before you order your next mojito or margarita, stop and think about the number of calories hiding inside that cocktail glass. That’s right - calories. If you are health conscious, or on a weight loss plan, your favorite drink might not be so friendly towards your waistline.

It’s entertaining to watch the bartender mix up a drink and pour it into a fancy glass, but what exactly is in that cocktail shaker?
