Why do you eat out? 2007/09/18 21:05 Karma: 0
Why do you eat out? I’ve touched upon this in my latest blog posting but I’m really curious why other people eat out... And how frequently do you eat out?

I use all the excuses that you mention in your blog post but the real reason...

Occasionaly I hope to experience a really good meal, the kind that makes me want to lick my plate. With that memory I can usually recreate it at home.

hmmm - the lick factor - I love it!

Although I still think I'd go back rather than recreate it at home but perhaps that's more due to my uncertainty that I'd be able to actually recreate it at home -

Part of the problem with eating out is that service and food seem to be mutually exclusive. I've had great food at places that I'd never want to go back to and food that was not at all inspiring with wonderful service. Unless the restaurant has a pricetag that makes it a once or twice a year event, it just seems so hard to get the relaxing enjoyable atmosphere with lick your plate type food.

Usually the reasons to go out are either to try something totally new and different or a matter of any of the items in the blog post; many times the primary reason is just sloth!
