ImageIn the past few posts (part I, part II, & part III) I’ve been talking about my kitchen remodel.  Originally I had not intended on showing pictures of the kitchen because the posts were about the process of living without a kitchen not about my getting a new kitchen.  But recent events have changed my mind.  Ilva on An Italian Experience started a blogger event "Show us your kitchen" just a day after my first remodel post.  Ahhh - peer pressure.  I've succumbed and here are a couple of photos of the completed result.

ImageOur house is a nearly 100 year old Craftsman style house and while we clearly put in modern kitchen features we aimed at integrating it with the style of the rest of the house.  My favorite part is the large center Island, Husband calls it a continent.  I do nearly all my prep work on the island and it’s great for entertaining.  I also like the open shelves for displaying some things and the large window with 10" deep sill for setting plants.

The original kitchen...
For those of you that are interested, the last picture is the original kitchen.  For orientation, the new stovetop is located roughly where the old fridge was and the new window is about where the old, smaller, window was.

Overall, I think the kitchen accurately reflects our dream when we started the remodel.  We'd probably do a couple of things differently (like add a warming tray) but not much because now days I spend my time using and enjoying the kitchen rather than thinking about how to change it.

ImageUPDATE:  After a few requests here is a picture of the pantry. It is from before we had much in it - its not packed with lots things...

What a fantastic new kitchen.. I absolutely love the colors you chose as well as keeping it within the design of an old craftsman (my most favorite style of house EVER). Now THIS is the kitchen I'd want if I could have everything I wanted.
Perfect

Thank you so much for all the kitchen praise - the kitchen was a labor of love. It's great to hear others like it as much as we do...

You have such a beautiful kitchen now. It was worth all the pain of the remodel. I love everything about it.

What a remarkable difference. I like the dark wood you used for the shelves, it looks like it's always been there. And it matches the (original?) beautiful hardwood floor.

Darren and I like what you did with your kitchen. Wondering if you want to help design ours?

The hardwood floor in the kitchen is new. We had it match the rest of the house, well, the second time they installed it, it matched the rest of the house. All the hardwood (old and new) was sanded and refinished, but we had them leave a small area with the original color so that we could match with the new color.
